If you have a room that it is above your garage it is likely the coldest room in the house all because of your garage door seal. Why? Well your garage is probably full of drafts and the main culprit is where the garage door meets the ground. There is supposed to be a seal there but it can deteriorate over time with a lot of use of the garage and exposure to the elements. As garage door seals stop working you will get a constant draft and as your garage gets colder then any room above it becomes harder to keep warm. Garage door seals can easily be replaced as most home improvement stores have kits for sale. The kits should cost less than $100 and only take an hour or two to replace. Before repairing your garage make sure you lock it in whatever position you are going to work on it in so you can prevent it accidently closing on you or your new kit.
Besides keep the cold out properly installed garage door seals will keep dirt and moisture out of. If your garage floor always seems to dirty it is likely because there is dirt coming in with the draft at the bottom of your garage door. Get out of your car and walk in your house tracking all that dirt in.
Take a look at what is at the bottom of your garage door. If it is a dry, cracked piece of rubber then it is time to replace it.
